The object of HIVE is to surround the other player's queen bee with the various dice in the game.

Warrior ants fight to maintain control of the outside of the hive, while beetles climb on top of other hives, blocking them. Grasshoppers jump over other dice and the queen bee herself can also move. Keeping one eye on the hive formed by both players' dice and the other on your opponent's reserves increases the tension, as one wrong move will quickly see your queen bee besieged and game over!

Like chess, there is no luck in this game, only strategy.
