Pirmo reizi izspēlējot spēli, to pavada īss, bet interesants stāsts, kas ļauj labāk iztēloties to, kas notiek pirms un pēc cīņām. Sākumā piejama tikai daļa no visiem varoņiem un kārtīm, arī nākamie ienaidnieki iepriekš nav zināmi, bet pēc katras cīņas tiek atklāts kaut kas jauns.
Ekspedīcijas sistēma ļauj īsā kampaņā savienot vairākas cīņas pēc kārtas, kas paredzētas ar pieaugošu grūtības pakāpi un apbalvojumiem pēc katras cīņas. Tā, manuprāt, ir labs veids, kā padarīt spēli aizraujošāku, tomēr jāatzīst, ka pilnvērtīgai tās izmantošanai ir nepieciešama vēl kāda no Aeon's End daļām, citādi varētu ātri apnikt tas, ka vienmēr cīnies ar tiem pašiem ienaidniekiem tajā pašā secībā.
