Shackleton Base

Lead your own space exploration organization to develop your mission to the Moon!

A permanent base is being built in Shackleton Crater at the Moon's south pole. You lead one of the space organizations that are working together to expand their power at the base, while the three major corporations sponsoring the mission each try to implement their own plans. Shackleton Base: You will build the base structures while funding corporate projects that provide special abilities and scoring opportunities.

At the start of the game, you randomly select three corporations from the seven available. Each corporation introduces new projects, actions, and scoring opportunities, as well as their own unique mechanics. The game takes place over three rounds, each of which is divided into three stages:

• Transport Phase: Each player draws a ship tile from an open display to determine what types of astronauts and resources can be used this round, as well as the order of the next round.
• Operation Phase: Players take turns deploying their astronauts to the Moon to gather resources, build structures, or fund projects. Depending on which corporations were chosen, different types of resources will be available, which can be used in different ways for projects or building structures. Each project provides permanent abilities and scoring opportunities. Each corporation provides different ways to score points, which can occur during the Operation Phase, the Maintenance Phase, or at the end of the game.
  
• Maintenance Phase: Deployed astronauts are assigned to work on structures (providing a bonus to the player who owns them), then players collect income and pay maintenance costs. If corporations in play have end-of-game effects, those effects are implemented.

At the end of the game, a final scoring round takes place, in which the player with the most points wins.
