"Vampire: The Masquerade Heritage" players take on the roles of ancient vampires. In each game, players try to pick characters for their family's bloodline. These characters influence the various vampiric "battlefields" that appear throughout the game and help complete missions based on historical events. In addition to acquiring characters, players can use unique clan cards that can be played to change the rules of the game in favor of the respective clan group.

Eventually, the seven-hundred-year period will come to an end, followed by the game's conclusion, which will be affected by the player's actions during the campaign.
