Players are presented with a mystery to be solved and it is up to the players how they approach the tasks by searching for clues in homes and castles, newspapers and the streets of London, interviewing suspects and putting the facts together to find a solution. At the end of the game, players have the opportunity to evaluate their performance in comparison to how Holmes himself would have handled the case.
