The cards painted in tempera on papyrus (design) are partially inspired by the tarot, which was created in 1870 by the famous occultist Jean-Baptiste Pitois. According to Pitois, the tarot originated from the legendary Book of Thoth, a book of knowledge that contained all the secrets of Egyptian magic.
