SPLENDOR TOURNAMENT RULES

GAME ORDER AND SCORING

Announcement of games

Before each round, a computer-generated list of tournament participants is published, ranking them by table. From this list, participants can find out the table number at which they will play their next game and go to the appropriate table.
All participants play four rounds.

First round:

Players are randomly assigned to tables in a computer-determined order. There are 3-4 players at each table.

The starting order is determined by the players according to the computer's random order - the player who is first on the list at the table will make the first move.

Next rounds:

Players at the table are ranked based on the results of previous games. The first player is determined by their position in the ranking.

ATTENTION!

Due to the very tight tournament schedule, each round is strictly limited to 45 minutes. After half an hour has passed, a 1-minute turn limit will be introduced. If the game has already lasted 45 minutes, the table is given another five minutes to complete the game. As soon as 50 minutes have passed, the game is stopped, allowing the player to complete the current turn. If none of the players has reached the 15-point mark, there is no winner in the game. This situation is not favorable for any participant, as overall and ranking points are lost.

Important!

  • It should be remembered that all four rounds of the main tournament are of equal importance.
  • There is only one winner in each game.
  • After four rounds, the top four players will advance to the finals. The winner will be the player who wins the final game. The second to fourth place will be determined by the number of points in the final game. In the event of a tie, the player who was ranked higher before the finals will be ranked higher.

Player rank

The ranking of players is determined by three criteria (in order of importance):

  • number of wins
  • number of points scored (maximum 15 points)
  • proportionally the number of points scored at the table. In a three-player game, the scores are recalculated proportionally as if it were a four-player game.

WHAT TO NOTE

  • Don't drag out your turn! Respect other players' time too!
  • When you have finished the game, record the results in the questionnaire and announce the end of the game! The winner takes the game questionnaire to the organizer's table. Players arrange the game components so that it is convenient to start a new round of play.
  • Players are responsible for following the rules. If a player made a mistake that was not immediately recorded, and the players have already taken other actions, then this situation is no longer relevant and the game continues. However, players must be honest and follow all the rules! In case of repeated mistakes, the player may be punished with disqualification.
  • Physically influencing opponents before, after or during the game is, of course, completely unacceptable and will result in the participant's disqualification.
  • If you have come to sympathize or are a tournament participant who has already finished their game, then while watching the game at another table, it is forbidden to make audible comments to the players and give advice. Interference in the game from the sidelines (even with a seemingly harmless retort) can affect the outcome of the game and is therefore not permissible! A participant who makes such an intervention, depending on the “degree of harmfulness”, may receive from a warning to disqualification (decision of the head referee).
  • All games are played with the Baltic version of the base game "Splendor". Communication during the game takes place in Latvian, but all players can agree on another language.
