Saboteur Latvian Championship 2025

The seventh Latvian Saboteur Championship will take place on September 24th, and the winner will earn the right to represent Latvia at the World Championship. Prove your tricks and bluffing skills by being the best dwarf in the game!

PRIZE FUND

• 1st place: Brain Games gift card worth €50 and the right to represent Latvia at the World Saboteur Championship.

• 2nd place: Brain Games gift card worth €35 .

• 3rd place: Brain Games gift card worth €25 .

Application form

Early registration price until September 14: €5 (when paying in the online store).

Participation fee: €8. Payment is made before the event in the online store .

On the day of the event, the participation fee will be €10 and payment can only be made in cash!

If for some reason you are unable to attend the championship, please inform the tournament organizer. Refunds for paid participation are possible until September 21st.

The number of places in the tournament is limited , so don't leave registration until the last minute! The competition will be open to 12 participants, and the number of participants will be fixed on September 23 at 12:00.

Wednesday, September 24 from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

AGENDA

• 17.45-18.15 arrival and registration.
• 18.15 first round breakdown and tournament opening.
• 18.20 first round.
• 19.05 second round.
• 19.50 third round.
• 20.35 final.
• 21.20 awards ceremony.

The use of alcohol and other intoxicants, as well as aggressive behavior during the championship is not permissible and threatens with disqualification! It is forbidden to disturb or help other participants! We are for clean sport!

CHAMPIONSHIP RULES

ORDER OF PLAY

The main tournament lasts 3 rounds, after which the top 6 play in the final, the winner of which is the Latvian champion.

ROUND

One round consists of three plays (or a full game of Saboteur). In each play, the roles are redistributed and points are awarded at the end of the play. The game follows the basic rules of Saboteur with minor changes to the role and point distribution, as described below.

ROLES

Unlike the regular Saboteur game, the tournament has three changes:

• It will always be known exactly what roles are in play.
• In addition to the dwarves and saboteurs, there is the selfish dwarf, whose mission is to win alone (he does not win together with the regular dwarves).

POINTS

At the end of each hand, points are awarded depending on the outcome of the hand.

• If the saboteurs win, the saboteur receives 4 points if there is only one, or 3 points if there are two or three saboteurs.
• If the selfish dwarf creates the path to the gold, then he alone receives 4 points.
• If a dwarf creates the path to the gold, then that dwarf receives 3 points, and every other regular dwarf receives 2 points.

DIVISION BY TABLES

In the first three rounds, the table divisions are drawn.

Each table has 6 players (2 saboteurs, 3 regular dwarves, 1 selfish dwarves), however, if the number of players is not divisible by 6, tables with 5 players (1 saboteur, 3 regular dwarves, 1 selfish dwarves) or 7 players (2 saboteurs, 3 regular dwarves, 2 selfish dwarves) are also created.

The top 6 players according to the rating obtained after the main tournament play in the final. If several players have the same number of points after 3 rounds, then more than 6 players can play at the final table. The winner of the final becomes the Latvian champion and is entitled to represent Latvia at the world championship in the fall.

RATING

To rank players, firstly, the number of points the players have, and secondly, the number of gold squares they have opened, are taken into account.
