The anniversary CATAN Championship of Latvia is here

"CATAN" is one of the most popular strategy board games in the world. In it, players settle the island of Catan, building roads, settlements, and cities, as well as trading resources to earn victory points. The game has become a symbol of modern board game culture and has brought together millions of players worldwide for over thirty years.

In Latvia, "CATAN" championships have been held for more than two decades, and this year marks the 20th tournament, becoming a significant event in the Latvian board game community. The champion will have the opportunity to represent Latvia at the "CATAN" World Championship, as well as receive a 100 EUR gift card from "Brain Games".

The championship consists of 6 qualifying rounds and a final. The qualifying rounds will take place in 4 different cities (Riga, Liepaja, Jelgava, and Valmiera). The maximum number of players in each qualifying round is 64, and one participant may participate in two qualifying rounds, but both times must be in two different cities. If a participant automatically qualifies for the final, they are not allowed to participate a second time.

Participants must be at least 10 years old to enter the championship. Only adults can qualify for the World Championship.

Remaining qualifying rounds:

• March 28 in Liepaja;
• March 31 in Valmiera;
• April 11 in Riga;
• April 18 in Riga.

The championship is organized by the board game publisher and retail chain "Brain Games", which has been holding "CATAN" Latvian championships since 2004, with the exception of the pandemic years.
